I'm realizing by the dates on this site that I'm only posting once a month...sorry, I'm just so busy it seems like. The diary of Amy Deas-you think you know, but you have no idea! There are so many things going on at once. And things don't seem to slow down too much in the Deas' household. I actually have to leave the Xanga community for now to go run some errands....-see, you have no idea...............................will.....try....to....come....back....soooooon...

Yesterday and today our church held a "Women on the Rise" Conference. A challenge to women to take their place in the church and ministry. I learned and am continually learning from great women of God down here. We had a session on Praise and Worship, Dream Interpretation-which God does speak through dreams-just gotta read the Word, and knowing and manifesting your gifts. What a challenging and encouraging last two days!!!

Plus-I got the news around 8:30 on Thursday evening that my best friend and brother are engaged!!!!! How fun is that?! It kinda stunk though because I couldn't really tell anyone down here in OK because no one knows who Mark and Karey are!!! AAARRRRGGGGHH!!! My baby brother is finally getting married! Yes, for those of you who didn't know, Markus is my BABY brother. Who, for many years failed to realize that and owes much respect to his favorite older sister. Just Joshin' ya. (never really knew what that phrase meant)

I have the honor of being the Matron of Honor! I'm so excited and can't wait until the big day. I'm sad that I don't get to be up there with Kare Bear and help like she so lovingly and willingly did for me. I promise to do my best!!!!! Yes Sirrrrrrr!

I'll be in town next weekend to help her look for a dress. I loose Divine Favor in the name of Jesus!

God is good! He is continually challenging me and sharpening me for His purpose...

Just wondering-is anyone supporting Xanga by going premium? Oh well. It's been such a long time since I've posted. Since the last time my BF Karey came down to visit. Good laughs, good frozen custard, good shopping finds, good conversation...just good times. It's fun that even though we're so far away from each other we are so close and will continue to stay that way.
hmmmmmm what to talk about. We have been busy with the church. I'm pretty busy with women's ministry stuff, youth stuff, and I think I'm getting ready to join the choir. We are getting ready for a Way Back Wednesday where we honor the 80's. Which is kinda ironic just thinking about it since none of our youth were really a part of the 80's. Anyway, we'll be having some breakers and a special guest from the hit movie 'RAD'-whatcha know 'bout that!!!! We'll be having some breakers but no guest from RAD-that would be totally gnarly if we did though...
Our women's ministry does one big fund raiser per year to keep the cost down for women's events. So this year they have decided to do a 3 day church-wide Garage Sale. Craziness!!! But we're wanting to make all of our women's events cost friendly to everyone where the max cost for an event/conference/banquet etc. would only be $15/$20. There's so much more to go on about but I won't. Work has been interesting. The teacher that I work with was on the verge of getting fired for leaving a girl with autism in a storage closet (per the girl's request) at nap time where one of the physical therapist found her to have torn up some equipment during that time...to be continued...
Vernon has been very busy lately. He visits 8 High School campuses every week and does campus club ministries. This is total divine favor to be able to come onto these public school campuses and minister to these young people every week. He's very excited. We love where we're at. He was also blessed by a friend of ours who gave him a digital studio to set up in his office. Him and his boys just bought a microphone and got the equipment set up the other night. He's very excited.
Fall is officially here and I love it!!!! Everyone is saying that we're going to have a really bad winter-we shall see. I'm looking forward to Thanksgiving #1 because mama Deas can cooooook! and #2 I get to see friends and family.
It was so good to see everyone at the Purkey wedding. Pretty wedding! Everyone's all grown and/or has kids that are grown!-well not everyone-you know what I mean...
Signing off til next month...or whenever I get around to this quaint community we all call XANGA.

Today was a pretty good day. The day went by fast and I got a lot organized. We have been doing a lot of painting in the house. I will be very happy when it's all done. But we're enjoying making this house a home.
The weekend was pretty good. Friday we did a photo shoot for some friends of ours and then went out to eat. Saturday we had some youth leaders over for a BFP which we do every month. BFP stands for Bread, Friends, and Prayer.
Sunday was a great morning service, as usual. Pastor Hogue spoke about the church being an agency of healing according to Luke 10:25. The story of the Good Samaritan-one we may all be familiar with. The sermon brought convictions on me. He talked about healing others with the heart not the hand. We are in the center of Downtown OK and there are many homeless people around. Every morning our church does a 'whosoever will may come' breakfast for anyone who wants to come, for free. So there are many homeless people who hang around the church (a good thing). Some have approached me for money. In the past I have always been the person to not give a begger or 'homeless' person money if they were to ask. Thinking they would go and buy drugs or alcohol, etc. Our pastor is getting his masters from Harvard right now so he has an apt. in Boston while he's going to school. He often sees this man in Boston on the curb begging people for money. Pastor watches some go by him, taking the long route to avoid this particular man. Each time pastor goes down this path he makes sure he has some money of some amount to give this man. ( or any homeless/needing) He will walk up to this man and give him some money and say "remember-this is from Jesus" and place the money in his hand/cup whatever. He says that now the man will see him coming from a distance and shout out "hey-Jesus man!" He talked about giving from our heart and not standing in judgement of the hurting but being an agent of healing.
Matt. 25:35-46 says: For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat...Then the RIGHTEOUS will answer him "Lord, when did we see you hungry....The King will reply..."whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me."
We have had people over to our house, even recently, and some people will just show up or will be friends or relatives of those coming over. Some will just walk right past me and go straight for the food or even look in the fridge! My first, flesh response is what are they doing here? I'm not comfortable with people I don't know in my house, etc. But it's not about just saying "Oh be blessed my brother in the Lord..." But it's about 'How can I help you? What can I do for you?' I am truly wanting a heart change to not run away from needs. But to truly serve from the heart. When you allow God to fill your heart with compassion you invest in something beyond your own happiness. Remember it is a HEART issue, not a HAND issue.
I hope that speaks to others. Maybe it was just for me. Didn't mean to repreach the sermon. If you want the sermon I can burn you one on CD !! ; )
God is Great! Life is good!
Love ya!

This seems like a pretty neat site. A little different for me that I'm letting anybody and everybody know my businass, but it seems like it will be fun. So here goes....
Today was kind of a long day. I didn't go to bed until 5am due to painting and decorating our guest bedroom. It turned out well, I was just very sleepy. I then woke up at 9:30 to go shopping with a friend here in OK. We did a little shopping and had some lunch at Fridays. If there's one thing I could do almost any day of the week, with sleep or no sleep-it's shopping. I'm looking forward to a couple weeks away-my best friend from KS is coming down to visit. Then we'll be headed back to KS for Pastor Jon and Lisa's wedding. Should be fun...well, I'm short on sleep and need to get to bed. We have chuuch tomorrow. I love our chuuch! Hope to see some fun outta all of this.
